Frequently Asked Questions:

Age and Play:

Q: How can I be sure my kid is in the right age group?
A:  What ever age your child played as during the spring, will be the age they play as during fall.  i.e.  if your son or daughter was 13 as of January 1, 2010, he or she played as a 13 yr old even if they turned 14 on January 2, 2010.  As a result that is the age they play as in the fall as well.

Q:  Can my child play in an older division?
A:  Yes, as long as it is the next division up.  i.e.  Tee Ball players may play Pee Wee ball but not move up to the intermediate league.

Q:  Can I play my team up a division?
A:  A team in every respective division will be required to have a minimum of 9 players who are of that divisions age, so only a handful of players may be younger that the required division age.

Q:  Can my child play on more one team?
A:  Yes.  But there are restrictions.  First your child must be ona primary roster in their respective league age division or the next age group up.  Once a primary team is established a player may be on another roster as a reserve player.  The reserve team must be in a different age division.  The primary team must be the priority team, and the player must play in the primary game to be eligable for the reseve team.
The reserve players are not allowed to pitch at any time!

Q:  Why are we playing on Labor Day?
A:  Why not?  For the past three years we have not played on Labor Day.  This year the board voted to play this weekend for several reasons.  First, it is important to get games in as quickly as possible.  Overall, the weather has been good to us the last three years, but you never know.  Second, plenty of people requested that we not take that weekend off so we can move the season along without basically two weeks of no play.  Third, did I mention the board voted on playing that weekend?

Q:  What is we can't field a team that weekend?
A:  Unfortunately, it will be a forfeit.  If this is a potential problem for your team please line up reserve players.  This will insure your team is able to play.

Q:  Once the league schedule is available, should there be a conflict where either the coach or the team can not be there on any given day, can one coach work things out with the other coach to reschedule the game to a more conveinient time?
A:  This has presented problems for us in the past.  Simply the answer is "no."  Unless the weather is a factor you will be required the game as scheduled unless you have prior permission from your player agent.  If you have any question please call your player agent.

Registration:

You Must register your team online here using the Registration tab and forms here.  We must have them completed by Wednesday August 11, 2010.

Q:  Dose every kid need to have a medical relese form filled out?
A:  Absolutely no exceptions.  This is with your childs saftey in mind.  We must have it filled out and submitted with your teams registration.

Q:  What happens if we don't submit a medical release form?
A:  No child is eligable to play with out this form.

Q:  Who needs to go online and fill out the medical release form?
A:  The Parent of every Player needs to fill this out.  We have a link to this form on the home page.

Q:  Do I have to show proof of age for my child?
A:  Yes, coaches will need to get copies of birth certificates and have them available for inspection at all times for every player in uniform.  The exception is reserve players.  They certificate is verifiable from the primary team.

Q:  Can a coach pick up a player at any point in the season even if he/she is not on a current team roster?
A:  NO!  If a player is no on a roster, that person is not eligable to play.

Q:  What is the penaly for an unregistered player playing in a game?
A:  Once it has been prooven the player in question is not a registered player the game is over and the offending team will forfeit the game.

Q:  Can a team register a player during the season?
A:  Yes!  Permission must be granted by the player agent, and the player will be required to show proof of age, and fill out a medical release form before playing.

Cost:

As it has been in the first three years, there is a team fee.
Team Fee is $585

Q:  Does it matter how many players we have?
A:  No.  The fee is the fee rather you have 10 player or 20 players.

Q:  What gives with the price Dave?!
A:  It has always been our goal to keep Fall Ball affordable.  It is also our goal to cover all our costs.  While the price last year was attractive for twelve games and a tournement with a three game garantee, it hardly covered all the expenses.  This year one of the things that will drive up the cost is umpires.  This year we are outsourcing our umpire scheduling.  This alone will cost $6 a game.  We are still having the 12 game season and the 3 garantee round robin tournament.

Q:  Does this price include uniforms?
A:  No, teams are going to have to provide those for them selves.  Dave has a source that is pretty inexpensive so don't be shy, ask him.

All Metro Batting Contest:

Q:  What is this?
A:  This is great opportunity for any child, player non player to show their stuff and see how they stack up as a hitter.  From base hits, bunts to goin' yard!

Q:  Does that mean the Home Run Derby is off?
A:  Not exactly.  There will be an opportinity to hit the long ball in this event.  It will just not be held during the regular Fall season.

Q:  Where will this be held?
A:  We are working on that.  Check the tab labeld All Metro Batting Competition for updated details as they become available.

Q:  How much is that going to cost us?
A:  $12 a contestant.

Q:  Will there be awards for the winners?
A:  A very handsome trophy and a runner up prize will be handed out.

Q:  When will this be held?
A:  Boys: Saturday July 17, 2010  Girls:  Saturday July 24, 2010

Q:  Other than home runs what other skills are particpants skilled on?
A:  The details are up coming.  We wuill post them under the All Metro Home Run Competition tab as they become available.

Other Questions:

Q:  Will Fall Ball be doing a fund raiser this year?
A:  No

Q:  Will there be a roster book this year?
A:  We are considering that at this time.

Q:  Can the major teams from Grandview Little League where their regular season uniforms?
A:  Absolutely not.

Q:  If i want to coach a team what do I need to do?
A:  If you haven't already done so decide which age division you want to coach.  After you have done that send Dave an e-mail to dave@fallballusa.org or text him at 515-865-5891.  If you don't have the ability to text let him know that when you e-mail him.  The best way to comunicate with Dave is via text message, (this is a busy dude) after that keep an eye on the players needing a team tab.  Fill out the proper forms and you are on your way.

Q:  Will we be keeping track of stats this year?
A:  Yes, as some teams choose to not participate in this we will be doing it again this year.  A form will be available before each game that will need to be filled out.  It will be that simple.

Q:  Will there still be awards based on stats on award night.
A:  Yes, it is part of what makes our leage so great.

Q:  Will the Umpires be awading oins again this year?
A:  Yes, it was a huge hit with the kids.

Q:  Will there be a rule book this year?
A:  We are currently working on that.  We plan to have one written out and ready to go by the start of the season.  We will have a rules meeting like we have in the past, we will keep you posted.
